Our History

Pacific Rim was co-founded by Jerry Tyner and Sam Galpin in 1988.  Co-founder Jerry Tyner grew up and learned the trades in Mississippi. Jerry served in The US Coast Guard and worked as a journeyman carpenter and painter for several years before following the construction work out to California. 

Co-founder Sam Galpin learned his craft while employed by The Irvine Company. In 1988 Jerry Tyner and Sam Galpin teamed up to establish Pacific Rim Contractors. Starting out small they solicited general contractors and developers for painting subcontracts and maintenance service contracts. 

In 1992 Sam Galpin left and established Pacific Rim Architectural Services to focus on exterior systems and weatherproofing. Jerry Tyner remained at Pacific Rim Contractors to focus on interior systems. 

1995 Pacific Rim Contractors expanded our services to include metal stud framing and drywall to fulfill the entire partition scope - framing, drywall, drywall finish taping, painting, and wallcovering. 

Today, Pacific Rim's is run and operated by Aaron Tyner, Jerry's son. Aaron Tyner came to Pacific Rim in 1994 after working as working his way up the ladder from painter to superintendent at the Bonas Company. Aaron Tyner has over 40 years of construction experience and has grown Pacific Rim into a recognized industry partner. 

After 35 years Pacific Rim has developed strong professional relationships with property management companies, developers, and general contractors in Orange County, Los Angeles, and the greater area. 

Pacific Rim is a commercial construction self-performing metal framing, drywall, paint, wallpaper, and fireproofing subcontractor. Pacific Rim is a signatory to The Carpenters Union - Interior Systems. Established in 1988, we are a family run company with 100 employees and skilled tradesmen on staff. 

Our team has completed a wide variety of projects. Our clients have included, Google, Cal State Fullerton, Cedars-Sinai, Westfield, The Irvine Company, RiverRock Real Estate, Department of Homeland Security, LA Department of Child Protective Services, Tesla, Allergan, Meggitt Defense Systems, Corelogic, MobilityWare, Blizzard Entertainment, LAX, Broadcom, and Hudson Properties.
